The federal Government on Tuesday has declared that it was working out on a policy to reduce the number of children per woman to 2 with the Economic Development and Growth  Plan (ERGP),  the minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this while responding to questions during a session at the 24th Nigerian Economic summit in Abuja, the minister said that population has been one of the greatest challenge in the country, leading to high rate of poverty,  lack of job opportunity among  so many other challenges.
Zainab said they have been engaging traditional rulers and other leaders, "specifically, we have found out that to be able to address one of the greatest challenge that we identified in the ERGP, which is the growth in our population, we need to engage this institutions.
"And we hope that with their support, we will get to a point where we can come out with the policy where we can limit the number of children that a mother can have because that is important for sustaining the economy growth."
When asked about the sustainability of the ERGP by successive government, she argued that the plan would be sustained as it was purely a document that focused on the economic development.
